The developers do not plan to stop releasing free updates to the game despite the paid nature of the DLC. The developers describe it as something that will “spice up your early game runs once you’ve played through the core game.” This will give players a new path to choose early in the game-changing the route they would take to victory. These will appear as alternatives to the Courtyard/Toxic Sewers and The Ramparts/Ossuary/Ancient Sewers. The new biomes are the Arboretum and the Swamp. These enemies will be appearing in early-game biomes along with a “conceptually unique armory.” There are also reports of a new mushroom companion being added that will help you along your quest. The Bad Seed DLC is adding some more weapons to the game to help deal with the new enemies. Now, a new DLC will raise the stakes and bring a whole new set of bugs and opportunities for the ambitious players of Dead Cells. Every update has brought the game closer to its overall potential and helped fix problems found by fans. The most recent update titled “Legacy” brought back features found only in the early versions of the game. This is the first DLC expansion to the game and is coming along with the 1.6 update.Īfter the game left Early Access in 2017, the game has received 16 free updates. There are also 12 reimagined Castlevania tracks that borrow from the Dead Cells style. Players will utilize these weapons as they fight the undead and defeat the evil within the castle.Īn alternative soundtrack will accompany the throwback weapons and storyline as there are 51 original Castlevania tracks in the DLC. The developers state each weapon in the DLC will keep pace with the frantic combat style of Dead Cells. These include the Vampire Killer, Throwing Axe, and Holy Water. The DLC itself will include two biomes to explore as well as 14 weapons, many of which come from the Castlevania series. A storyline within the DLC also features Richter Belmont approaching The Beheaded after an appearance of “a strange, malevolent castle.” Some of those enemies include Dracula and Death, both in the form of battles. It also provided glimpses of various enemies from the Castlevania series. Specifically, the trailer gave a preview of Dracula’s castle and other Castlevania-themed areas.
